1 Million Miles vs 10 Meters
As a salute to NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope, we wanted to explore how we can have stunning images from 1 million miles away, while police request image identification from grainy images from 10 meters.
Why is it so bad?
Unfortunately, the biggest factor in poor-quality images comes down to budget and priority. Security measures are generally only put in place after an incident has taken place. In addition to this, when security measures are considered, understandably the customer will have a budget. An issue however with the budget is that some DIY CCTV kits may suggest that the price for “HD” cameras is relatively low, whereas, in reality, a professional CCTV system will exceed the cost of such DIY systems. Not to mention a rise of installers offering low prices, generally followed by poor work and no change of them ever coming back when the system goes wrong a month later. The US have dubbed these types of installers “Trunk Slammers”.
Secondly, in buildings that already have CCTV systems, likely as the one above, the owner/manager needs to stay on top of upgrades. With a service agreement with a security company such as Ballum Security, we can suggest upgrades when required to take the responsibility away from the person in charge.
